Canal Camps 2017
I help, a little, to restore the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal
In 2017, my two canal camps concentrated on archaeology. We excavated about two-thirds of the remains of the cottage that had stood beside Shop Lock since the mid-nineteenth century, the residence of the lock keeper until the canal was abandoned in the 1930s. It was demolished in the 1950s, but little was known about it, and few locals remembered it.
