Canal Camp 2011
I help, a little, to restore the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal
The camp in 2011 was at Draper's Lock, west of Cwmbran and north of Pentre Lane. Here we learned how to use lime mortar, and some of us were lucky enough to be able to attend a course at Ty-Mawr centre, near Brecon. Next to the lock I spotted what I found was the foundation of a small building, including the base of a chimney. The building appears on late nineteenth-century OS maps, but its purpose is unknown. The bulk of it lies beneath adjacent farm buildings (see my archaeology notes).
