I have many connections with British Columbia, and this section will gradually enlarge as I add more pages.

Haynes Ranch, north of Osoyoos

Haynes Ranch (1860s) decays slowly (despite being a heritage site) on the edge of the desert north of Osoyoos.

The rails of the Nelson and Fort Sheppard (N&FS) Railway (1893), latterly Burlington Northern, hadn't seen a train for eight years when I took this photograph. The track was lifted a couple of years later and the route is now a hiking/biking trail.

Fort Steele: We visited Fort Steele, also known as Galbraith's Ferry, a preserved gold-rush town dating from the 1860s, in August 2010, and I was captivated, taking far too many photographs! The Historic Park is an excellent example of a resource that has not been dumbed down or turned into a theme park. Yes, there are people dressed in period costumne acting out minor dramas around the town, but they can be avoided! The project is also willing to allow some structures to simply decay, addiding to the feeling of authenticity.
