At the moment I've uploaded just a series of albums, some brief, some large, of the photographs I snapped as we perambulated around the East Midlands, peering at a little of its historical archaeology. I haven't yet had time to add captions. That will happen...
- 1: People
- Random shots of us (except me, of course).
- 2: Leicester
- We wandered around Leicester, which is rich in historical detail.
- 3: Laxton and Bolsover
- We looked at the humps and bumps of a deserted medieval village, at the unenclosed field system at Laxton, and at the wonders of Bolsover Castle.
- 4: The Gladstone Museum
- In the heart of what were once The Potteries, we visited the Gladstone Museum and Etruria flint mill.
- 5: Southwell
- One could spend many hours picking out the details of Southwell Minster (including at least one Sheela na gig...see if you can spot it before I add the caption). We also visited Southwell Workhouse.
- 6: Castles
- A great day of great castles - Kirkby Muxloe, Bradgate and Ashby de la Zouch.
- 7: Birmingham
- We glimpsed some of the industrial past of Birmingham, including the superb, eccentric Pen Room museum.
